Ingredients
- Butter – room temperature salted butter
- Brown sugar – dark brown sugar adds the richest flavor and color but light brown sugar can also be used to make chai butter.
- Vanilla extract
- Spices
- Black tea – optional. Increase the chai flavor with the addition of either a tablespoon of brewed chai tea or a teaspoon of finely ground black tea leaves.
Step by step instructions
- In mixing bowl, combine butter, vanilla extract, sugar, spices and salt.
- Beat until well combined.
- Roll into a log or spoon into a shallow container and store refrigerated for up to a week or frozen for up to three months.
- Bring to room temperature to soften before using.
