    Drinking watermelon may seem a little odd. But as someone who has been juicing watermelon, and serving watermelon drinks and watermelon cocktails, for years. Anything watermelon is always a huge hit.

    And not only is watermelon such a crowd pleaser, it’s also so versatile. There are so many uses for fresh squeezed watermelon juice. And a wide range of benefits to drinking fresh watermelon juice as well!

    Watermelon juice benefits

    There are many health benefits of watermelon juice!

    Watermelon contains high quantities of vitamins and antioxidants! Like vitamin A, potassium, magnesium, B vitamins, and vitamin C. Watermelon is also very high in lycopene and beta-carotene, antioxidants which are known to combat inflammation and reduce oxidative stress. Vitamin A and vitamin C are also amazing building blocks for healthy hair and skin. And have been shown to help your body repair skin cells and produce collagen.

    Furthermore, watermelon is 92% water. So consuming watermelon is a great way to increase hydration. Furthering the health benefits of watermelon on both skin and hair.

    Ingredients

    • Watermelon – any watermelon can be used but I prefer to use a small seedless watermelon.

    Step by step instructions

    1. Start by peeling and cutting watermelon. There are many different ways to do this but I prefer this easy method to cut watermelon when making watermelon juice.
    2. Add watermelon pieces to blender and blend on medium to high until smooth.
    3. Place a fine mesh strainer, cheesecloth or nut milk bag over a large pitcher and pour watermelon puree through the strainer.

    1. Stir to remove solids.

    How to use

    There are so many different uses for Fresh Watermelon Juice! You can serve as is as simply watermelon infused water or mix with milk to make watermelon shakes or smoothies. Or mix with vodka, rum, tequila or gin to make a wide range of watermelon cocktails like Watermelon Rose Margaritas.

    Turn the juice into Watermelon Simple Syrup to make Watermelon Shaved Ice or Fresh Fruit Syrup Snow Cones.

    You can even use the leftover pulp and a little watermelon juice to make a delicious marinade for grilled or roasted watermelon chicken. Or even make a hydrating and naturally exfoliating face mask from the watermelon pulp.

    Additionally feel free to add herbs and other juices to make a wide range of watermelon juice combinations. Try watermelon mint, watermelon lemon, strawberry watermelon, watermelon and kiwi and even watermelon and pineapple juice combined.

    Shelf life

    Watermelon juice does not have a very long shelf life and will start to change texture after 2 days. To preserve watermelon juice for longer use it to make watermelon simple syrup. Simmer the ‘watermelon water’ with equal parts granulated sugar until sugar dissolves then refrigerate for up to 30 days.

    Instructions

    • Add watermelon pieces to blender and blend on medium to high until smooth. Alternately you can use an immersion blender to puree watermelon.
    • Place a fine mesh strainer, cheesecloth or nut milk bag over a large pitcher and pour watermelon puree through the strainer.
    • Cover and refrigerate fresh watermelon juice for up to 2 days.
