Festival of Family Farms Skagit Farm Tour is an annual event in the Skagit Valley WA showcasing local farms and producers in the bountiful region.
It’s a great chance to get to connect with your local food system, build relationships with your farmers and spend some quality time with your family!
Eat local
I feel so lucky to live in an area rich with natural beauty and an abundant and thriving community of farmers.
Once a year many Skagit valley farms and producers get together and host a family farm tourm, The Skagit Valley Festival of Family Farms. Where families can follow a map through all the participating farms.
Along the way you can taste their offerings and partake in the extra activities at each stop!
The adults tasted all sorts of local cheeses, seafood and locally grown goods. Many locations offer samples and there’s always lots of yummy items available for purchase.
With so many amazing farms in the area it’s always worth the visit.
Fresh or frozen blueberries from Bow Hill Blueberries. Delicious fresh cheeses from Golden Glen Creamery and Samish Bay Cheese. An abundance of produce, canned goods and more from both Schuh Farms and Gordon Skagit Farms. And so many more!
If you get hungry when you’re in the area there are many amazing Skagit valley restaurants. COA Mexican have locations in both Burlington and La Conner. The Oyster Bar on Chuckanut has a consistently amazing menu with top notch service and ambiance. Tweets Cafe in Edison is the best spot hands down in the Valley for breakfast and brunch. And you will not be disappointed with Taste of Thai by Wipa in Burlington.
The kids had fun climbing on farm equipment.
And getting their faces painted.
And building fairy houses on the beach at Taylor Shellfish Samish Bay location was a very cute touch.
We brought our favorites to Taylor Shellfish Farm to end the day with a local farm goods picnic at the beach. Note: Taylor Shellfish now offers dining and beverages. And no longer allows you to bring your own items to the beach.
