I recently had the honor of meeting local mama and business owner, Ashley Boersma, of Xtreme Bean Espresso.
Interested in building a portfolio of social media images she contacted me to book a restaurant shoot. While there shooting the mouthwatering food and beverage I fell for the captivating details of this adorable, community-centered cafe.
Ashley is the ultimate one-armed-mama. A wife, mother and business owner often with a babe on her hip, succeeding in doing what she loves while simultaneously rocking out her family responsibilities.
Recently celebrating 10 years in business, Ashley’s mother, Joan, has been by her side the entire time. Along with her husband, the artist behind the hand-lettered chalk boards and the Love Where You Live coffee mugs.
And it’s obvious that they truly do love where they live. Handcrafted dining tables and artisanal gifts are just a few of the local works spotted at the shop. And the delish baked goods are delivered fresh from Rome Grocery, located just down the highway.

Located off Mount Baker Highway at Nugent’s corner Xtreme Bean is somewhat of a mirage in the Nooksack River Valley where food and drink options are few and far between.

Bagels with assorted cream cheeses (like italian or feta dill!), croissant sandwiches, and grilled breakfast burritos are just a few of the breakfast choices. P.S They’re actually available all day 😉
Craving lunch instead? Try a fresh made salad or sandwich! Served with chips and a pickle I highly recommend pairing with a mocha milkshake.
