Start with a dalgona coffee recipe then simply turn it into a delicious coffee ice cream.

    Non dairy ice cream alternative

A fabulous alternative to non dairy ice cream. This is rich and creamy and smooth and only takes a few minutes to whip up.

It has the rich ribbon like texture of really good thick ice cream or frozen custard.

A little strong by itself but Frozen Dalgona Coffee is perfect served as a float or swirled with vanilla ice cream.

    Ingredients

    • Instant coffee – preferably Nescafe freeze dried granules.
    • Granulated sugar
    • Boiling water
    Whipped coffee ingredients

    Step by step instructions

    1. Start by making Dalgona Whipped Coffee. Bring water to a boil and combine with sugar and instant coffee in a stand mixer. Whip vigorously to stiff peaks.
    2. Then instead of turning it into a whipped coffee foam iced latte spoon the dalgona whipped coffee into an airtight container.
    3. Tightly cover and place in the freezer overnight or until frozen.
    4. Scoop Frozen Dalgona Coffee with an ice cream scoop, wetting the scoop with hot water as needed.
    5. Serve and enjoy!

    How to serve

Because dalgona coffee is so strong this is a very rich frozen coffee dessert and is much stronger than your typical coffee ice cream recipe. It may be a little too strong for most to enjoy as is. But is perfect to combine with vanilla in coffee ice cream sundaes. Or even to dollop in an espresso martini as a gorgeous frozen garnish.

    How to store

Store frozen covered in an airtight container for up to 3 months.

How much Gelato does this Frozen Dalgona Coffee Gelato yield? The ingredients seem like it will only make about 1 cup?? But the photo of the container with the Coffee Gelato looks more than 1 cup . . .

Thanks for the question, Robbie! That is an excellent question that I realize I never covered in the blog post… this super sweet hot espresso mixture whips up considerably, similar to how a small amount of whipping cream whips up to a whole bowl full of whipped cream. So, yes, although the ingredients are only 1/2 cup of sugar, 1/2 cup of water and 1/2 cup of Nescafe freeze dried instant coffee granules the yield is much more after all the air is whipped in.
