Ingredients

fresh lilac petals
stems and leaves removed

granulated sugar

water
Instructions
Combine sugar and water in small saucepan and bring to a simmer.
1 cup granulated sugar,
1 cup water
Remove lilac petals from stems and wash with cold water. Drain lilac and add to a heatproof bowl.
1 cup fresh lilac petals
Remove syrup from heat and carefully pour over lilac petals.
Cover loosely and steep lilac in syrup for 15-20 minutes, or until syrup is cool.
Carefully pour through a fine mesh strainer to remove solids.
Pour into an airtight container and store refrigerated until ready to use.
