½cupchopped nutspretzels, seeds, etc, ¼ cup each, optional
Instructions
Insert sticks into the stem end of the apples and line a large tray or sheet pan with parchment or wax paper.
Dunk each apple in boiling water for ONLY a few seconds then wipe dry.
After all the apples have been dipped and dried give each guest their own apple on a plate.
Unwrap caramels and add to a saucepan over medium heat with a few tablespoons of water.
Dip each apple completely in, tilt upright and swirl. Make sure caramel covers the entire apple all the way to the stick. This helps to prevent the caramel from sliding off finished apples.
Immediately start giving dipped apples to guests on individual plates with the toppings placed in an easy to reach location. Quickly add toppings to dipped caramel apple and place on lined tray to cool.
Enjoy once set and best consumed within 24 hours or refrigerate for up to 3 days.
