How to Find Your Blogging Voice

Finding Your Blogging Voice in isn’t always easy but these simple steps will guide you in the right direction!

It’s my (five year!) “Blogiversary” and to celebrate I’m sharing a few techniques to help you find your genuine voice in blogging and easily create authentic content!

    Your unique voice

Creating in a constantly changing and seemingly over-saturated world can feel so challenging. But when you create without getting caught up in comparisons, without chasing trends, and with a whole lot of grace and humility. When you ignore the rest and focus on the things that truly excite you you’re able to share in an authentic way, the words flow effortlessly and, most importantly, you provide something of value to others.

    1. Remember the passion that brought you to create. When feeling uninspired or overwhelmed think back to why you starting creating in the first place. Strip all the other stuff aside and what are you left with?

Keep an eye on the road ahead without losing sight of where you came from.

For me – it was for the love of sharing information. Interesting restaurants and recipes, off the beaten path vacations and day trips, easy entertaining ideas and more. For the love of photography and business and digital marketing. For the love of connecting with others, learning from people and sharing what I know as well.

    1. Share the things that truly interest and inspire you. Even though something may not be currently popular being true to you is always a good idea. Even when it gives you a case of the “5th grades nerves” for fear of being the odd-man-out. There’s no telling when your obscure interests will gain popularity with the general population. After all, predicting others is hard but knowing your own interests is much easier. And if you have a peculiar interest chances are you’re not alone.

Not too long ago, I constantly found myself engaging with others about home brewed kombucha, adaptogens, and (gasp!) even marijuana sodas. And a short while later these seemingly unknown and unpopular topics end up on all the what’s hot in 2019 lists.

This how-to guide to planning a vacation with friends will have you searching for a reason to get away! Whether for a birthday, bridal party, or other no-reason-at-all you’ll be planning, booking and hosting a "Chill" Friend's Weekend - In for your people in no time. friends getaway weekend away ideas | best friends weekend ideas | how to plan book and pay for a group vacation | Group Vacation Home Rentals | how to plan a friend vacation #AlohaOlala #ad
    1. Know what truly excites you. It’s a practice in mindfulness to be aware of what you’re passionate about and stay focused. When having trouble thinking about what topics truly interest you there are a few introspective strategies you can use. One is to be actively aware of what excites you now. Think about the topics you and your friends talk about in ‘real life’. What are the topics of cocktail hours and mid morning phone chats? And another is to think back and remember the things that you were excited about as a child.

For example, for me the things I was drawn to in childhood that continue to truly feed me as a person today are walking through the woods, family history, holidays and traditions and all the foods that go along with them. Flipping through cookbooks, dreamy home decor and everything crafting. Astrology and the moon and stars, flowers and gardening.

Although being true to you does not always seem easy, it’s always the best choice in the long run. Cheers to creating!
